This is a pair of 1965 Ford 289 cylinder heads. The casting number is C5AE-B. The C5AE-B head was used on many 289 applications in 1965 and became a popular candidate for hot rodders to upgrade. These heads will fit many Small Block Ford applications. Please confirm your specific application.
This is an awesome set of vintage cylinder heads. I bought these from a long time hot rodder. He removed these heads from a good running 289 engine to make some upgrades with the bottom end of the engine. One of the modifications was adding a new camshaft.
He removed one spring to have the machine shop check to see if the springs would work with the new cam. He then got sick and never got back to the project. He got over the sickness but realized that the heavy lifting of mechanics is no longer his hobby. These heads have been in storage for decades. One head was safely wrapped up on a shelf. The other sat out while waiting the the spring to get checked which never happened. That head has surface corrosion as shown and is missing one valve spring, retainer, and locks as shown. You would have wanted to replace those anyway most likely. After sitting this long, the heads should be rebuilt. That said, these are awesome heads with many upgrades. The valve sizes have been upgraded to the 351W valve sizes of 1.84 inch intake and 1.54 inch exhaust. The exhaust valve seats have been upgraded to the hardened type which is a very expensive upgrade. The valve guides are bronze of brass and seem very tight based on the two valves I removed. The combustion chambers have been nicely smoothed as shown.
I see no breaks or repairs to these heads. All threads are in good shape. I guarantee these heads to be crack free cores for rebuilding. From what I can see, it does not look like it will take much to get them up and going again. Don't miss this awesome set of 1965 Ford 289 heads. This is your chance to own the original 1965 289 heads with many performance upgrades you have been looking for at a GREAT PRICE. Check out my other listings for more rare and hard to find parts.
