The National hot rod craze was just starting to be formalized when someone hand-painted this amazing tie. Piston, gas pedal, spark plug. Hot Rod magazine was started in 1948, the NHRA followed in 1951, giving what until then had been a homegrown hobby more official venues and outlets. A very rare and unusual piece of memorabilia from the early days.
